Hi everyone! This week I went to Cold Stone (in Abredeen, NC) and I had the Oreo Cookie Creme Ice Cream with Marshmallows. It sounds like a crazy mix but it was soooo yummy! The Oreo Ice Cream tasted just like Oreos. I have eaten Oreo stuff that didn't taste like Oreos. I can add marshmellows to just about anything and be happy. You should try it. My mom made me get a "Like It" size because she thinks I'm too small, but I bet I could've eaten a bigger size. I give this 5 crowns out of five: ♔♔♔♔♔

An Apple A Day Keeps The Pinecrest High School Teaching Staff Happy

Cold Stone Creamery visited the teaching staff at Pinecrest Sr. High School for Staff Development Day and shared a sampling of our newest items: delicious caramel apples from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory! The staff was able to take a break between teaching and learning to try Apple Pie apples, Cheesecake apples, Snickers apples, Rocky Road apples and Oreo apples to name a few. Local Owners Focus On Kids/ Community And Grace Cover Of Industry’s Magazine!

Ron and Rena Schrein, owners of the Cold Stone Creamery located in the Aberdeen Commons Shopping Center in Aberdeen, NC, understood from the day they opened the doors that their store’s mission would be “all about kids and community.” With that in mind, they proceeded to reach out to the community, primarily to the schools, but also to churches and other charitable organizations, and offer their store and its products as a means to raise money. Schools, churches, teams, clubs, and marching bands all took them up on their offer.

Cold Stone Creamery portable freezers have become a fixture at high school football and basketball games, and at Spring Flings, Fall Festivals and other traditional fundraising activities at local elementary and middle schools. And at every event, a significant portion of ice cream sales is donated to the school. Over the last three years, the Schreins, and the Cold Stone Creamery of Aberdeen, have donated thousands of dollars to churches and schools in Moore County..After proudly participating in 100 fundraisers that benefited this community in 2008, they landed on the cover of their corporate magazine, the Kahala Pipeline, in an article that focuses on their efforts to take their business “outside the four walls” and into community where they can help anyone in need of raising funds.

“We care about this community. We live here, we do business here. Our daughter goes to school here. We feel that everyone bears some responsibility for reaching out and helping those in need, ” Ron Schrein said. “Ice cream is the ultimate “feel good” indulgence. Why not use feel good food to DO good right here at home?” Rena added that their store also employs as many as 20 local high school and college students in an effort to teach them work skills. “The best way to learn about life is to work hard at a fun job. That pretty much sums up why we love owning a Cold Stone Creamery!”

“One of our most successful fundraisers was an ice cream cake fundraiser that netted the Union Pines Marching Vikings Band more than $1,300,” according to Ron Schrein. Band members sold vouchers for ice cream cakes that were later picked up by the customers at the Aberdeen Cold Stone Creamery location. “No one in the band had to deliver anything to anyone, which is a huge benefit to the band directors, kids and parents,” Schrein said. Look for more ventures that unite the Cold Stone Staff with their community in the future, especially now that the couple has added Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, the only gourmet chocolate shop in the Sandhills, to their store.
